SSPX 2006 General Chapter election results

6-11-2006

Today, July 11, saw the reelection of Bishop Bernard Fellay as Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X, and the election of Fr. Niklaus Pfluger (currently the German District Superior) as his First Assistant and Fr. Alain Nely (currently the Italian District Superior) as his Second Assistant.

The General Chapter will remain in session until Saturday, July 15, and so the SSPX requests the continuance of the novena until that time.

BISHOP BERNARD FELLAY
Reelected Superior General

Born in Switzerland in 1958, ordained to the priesthood in 1982, and consecrated a bishop in 1988.

  • From 1982 to 1994, was the SSPX's General Bursar in Menzingen, Switzerland
  • From 1994 to 2006, was the SSPX's Superior General

FR. NIKLAUS PFLUGER
Elected First Assistant to the Superior General

Born in Switzerland in 1958 and ordained to the priesthood in 1984.

  • From 1984 to 1986, was an assistant at the Institut S. Karl Borromaus in Oberriet, Switzerland
  • From 1986 to 1989, was the prior at Priorat S. Theresia in Bale, Switzerland

  • From 1989 to 1991, was the Swiss District Superior

  • From 1991 to 1998, was the Rector at Preisterseminar Herz Jesu in Zaitzkofen, Germany

  • From 1998 to 2004, was again the Swiss District Superior

  • From 2004 to 2006, was the German District Superior

FR. ALAIN-MARC NELY
Elected Second Assistant to the Superior General

Born in France in 1950 and ordained to the priesthood in 1985.

  • From 1984 to 1994, was an assistant at St. Joseph des Carmes Academy in Carcassonne, France
  • From 1994 to 2004, was the senior prior at St. Ferreol at Marseille, France

  • From 2004 to 2006, was the Italian District Superior
