The first Mass
for the St. Therese parish was celebrated by Fr. Goettler in
1986, in the local Town Hall. In 1989 the Mass center
was moved to a temporary chapel which was located on the
property of one of the parishioners. There were about 50
parishioners at this time.
The
construction of the current church building began in October
of 1997 and the first Mass was celebrated in this building on
Christmas of 1999.
Attendance at
Mass in January 2000 peaked at 170 parishioners.
Construction
continued on the church with the
completion of the sanctuary and nave flooring, and the
addition of new altars as shown in the picture above.
The academy was started in 1986 in
a parishioner's for a handful of a students. Construction on the present school building was begun in Fall
1989 by 5 parishioners, and opened in 1992 with nearly 20
students. The school currently has almost 50 students. |
